Parishioners of St. Kateri Tekakwitha gathered this weekend to wish Father Roland Berngeh well, as he prepares to move to his next assignment. The Daughters of Isabella hosted a farewell reception for Father Roland in Eastport Saturday evening after Mass at St. Joseph's Church in Eastport. Parishioners also gathered in the Immaculate Conception Church Hall Sunday after 10:30 Mass to celebrate Father Roland's service and to wish him godspeed.
St. Croix Council # 149, of the Knights of Columbus held an exemplification for new members into the first three degrees -- charity, unity and fraternity -- at the Immaculate Conception Church in Calais on September 21, 2025. Over 130 people gathered Sunday, July 13, 2025 in the Immaculate Conception Church Hall for the annual parish picnic, celebrated near the feast of St. Kateri Tekakwitha.. Knights of Columbus Council # 149 cooked hamburgers and hot dogs and provided buns, condiments and grills. Parishioners brought sides and desserts. The Daughters of Isabella, St. James Ladies Sodality and St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Women's Group coordinated their efforts to set-up, serve and clean up after the event. Augustine Tah is a seminarian visiting this summer from the diocese of Kumbo in Cameroon. He is from the village of Lassin, an agricultural community of approximately 500-600 people. He is the sixth of seven children, with two sisters and four brothers. Click on the article title to read more.
Some new flowers have been planted at St. Joseph Church in Eastport in memory of Cathie Gallagher, a long-tme parishioner who died in March 2025 at the age of 98. The funds were donated by her cousin, Mary Coll, who lives in Ireland.
The Daughters of Isabella Circle 871 hosted a tea Friday, June 20, 2025 for members of the St. James Ladies Sodality, the St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Women's Group and the Daughters of Isabella Circle 871. The event was held in the St. Catherine's Room at St. Joseph's Church in Eastport.
The St. Croix Knights of Columbus Council # 149 recognized the altar servers from St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish at Masses the weekend of March 15th/16th. Certificates were presented at each of the Masses and the altar servers were honored at an evening potluck supper at Immaculate Conception Church in Calais on Sunday evening.
Catechumens from St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish and their sponsors attended the Rite of Election the weekend of March 8th/9th at St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow, Maine with Bishop James Ruggieri.
On Sunday, February 16, 2025, Mike Boies, Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #149 presented pastor Father Roland Berngeh with a check for $5,000 to be used in support of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish.
Father Roland Berngeh drew the winning tickets for the St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Women's Group Christmas Raffle. The winners were:: Karen Hanson of Calais and Gabe Dilio & sons Rhys, Owen, and Gabriel Coleman-Dilio, also of Calais.
The St. Croix Council # 149 of the Knights of Columbus donated 48 brand-new coats to the We Care Community Baby Center in Machias in January. The donations were part of the Knights' Coats for Kids program, which has distributed more than one million coats to children in need around the world.
Rachel Joerges, Director of Faith Formation for Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, extended a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the Faith Formation Bake Sale, held November 24th, a success. The bake sale raised $510, which was donated to the Irene Chadbourne Ecumenical Food Pantry.
Parishioners from St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish gathered Sunday evening, December 8, 2024, for the blessing of the Christmas creche in downtown Calais. Knights of Columbus Council # 149 sponsored the event and Father Roland Berngeh was on hand to bless the manger scene.
