Father Roland Berngeh will be celebrating one year at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish on July 1, 2024. During the past year, Father Roland has given instruction on the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, in support of the Eucharistic Revival being promoted in churches across the United States. He has also expanded opportunities for parishioners to participate in Eucharistic Adoration both before weekend Masses and each Monday at Immaculate Conception Church in Calais.
Father Roland has also led parishioners in the diocesan Prayer for Vocations after Communion at every Mass. Recently he has been inviting one family from each church to take home a cross and prayer card and asks them to say the prayer each day for a week, to pray for an increase in vocations.
Father Roland has also been promoting devotion to the Blessed Mother and participates in the Rosary before Masses, and includes the Hail Mary in the Prayers of the Faithful.
Father Roland’s sermons are grounded in theology and the lives of the saints, and delivered with a down-to-earth understanding of the modern world. He has been eliciting heart-felt “Amens” and “Alleluias” from his Downeast congregations for the past year.
Father Roland is one of ten priests from the diocese of Kumbo in Cameroon who are serving in the state of Maine.
